Home Sweet Home

I made some Pom homes in Illustrator, as well as a snack shop that can be seen below. The milk carton is the home of Pom Candy and the tiny Pom Pomette Omelet lives in the egg house. They are just two of the residents of the sleepy town of Small Town. I had already made Pom Candy's house before in Flash so this was just an update. I added more detail and color to the original design and made it a bit more homey and cute.

Big City Travel Poster
It's not quite midnight yet so I guess that means I've made 2 posts in one day. What is this madness?!
Anyway, I was inspired by the old Disneyland attraction posters for the Monorail and People Mover. It's really obvious so I don't know why I'm bothering even mentioning it. Big City is one of the towns in Pomland and home to Pom Choco, the greatest Pomeranian inventor and scientist to ever live. His interests include straws. Lots of straws.

The Many Faces of Pom

Here are just a few of the expressions Pom can make. The eyes and the mouth are both separete symbols so it's possible to mix and match. They're all pretty basic.

Long time no see, detective...
I had finally gotten okay with the whole updating the blog thing and then I had to go and stop for over a month. I've been a bad, bad, blogger. To make up for it, I bring some backgrounds/envirnoments/whatever that I made. I have some more that I can put up, but I think I'll wait till I fix a few things before I do that.

Here's a telephone. Isn't it nice? The wallpaper in the back is a pattern that I just used from Illustrator, but everything else was done in Flash. I used some rotary phones I found online and one that I have sitting in my closest as reference.

This is the outside of Detective Pom's office. To save time, I took a background that I had already made(you'll see that one in a little bit) and used that for the inside. Also, the painting on the wall was a landscape project that I did for Digital Illustration class.

And here's the one that you can see in the previous one that I had posted. Who knew Pomeranians read so much? Or maybe they're just for decoration, just like the Pomeranian License and Detective Certificate on display.

This is the view from Pom's desk. In the original sketch for this one, I had a lot more stuff going on near the back wall. Luckily I decided to put in the character that's going to be in that shot to see how she'd fit, and I noticed that most of the wall wouldn't even be visible. That realization saved me a lot of time that I later spent on other backgrounds.

And finally, the scene of the crime. This was one of the first ones that I did, and it really hasn't had any changes done to it. It's probably one of the more simpler ones of the bunch, but I think it might be my favorite. Completing it had really helped me get into setting a tone and look for the project.
Well that's it for this update. Let's hope I don't forget to continue to post things up again.

Oh look, it's my first post
Bring out the party favors, looks like I've got a blog! Not that I've never had a blog before, but this time there will be no angsty journal entries or postings about me wondering what I'd look like with red hair. Strictly business going on here.
This first entry was originally going to have a video, but I had trouble with uploading it to Blogger and Vimeo took way too long. So instead you get this:

I took inspiration from Lauren Bacall and Lady Gaga for the design. The combination made sense, but that might have been the allergy medicine I was taking at the time messing with me. She's from a project I first started in March and have slowly been working on. I might post some concept art in the future, or maybe I'll just leave it all as a surprise till I post the finished animation. I'll figure it out, or something.
