Grab Bag of Stuff...I guess?

I haven't updated since last month, even though I have been working on stuff. I guess now is a good time to finally post whatever it is I worked on. First up are some album covers I did for a friend.

Sometime before Christmas, my friend Tyler asked if I could make some cover art for an album he had just completed. The album was called Katzenklavier, after the musical instrument, so I went off of that while coming up with ideas. I had sketched up about 5 or 6 different thumbnails and the one above is the one that Tyler liked that most. It was done in Illustrator. I thought I had a link to the album, but I can't seem to find it right now...

*EDIT*
It's been a month but I now have a link! Get some sweet tunes here.

...However I do have the link for this album! Tyler also asked me to make cover art for a separate musical project of his. The catch was that I only had an hour to complete it. I prefer this one to the Katzenklavier art, because it's way simpler. This was also done in Illustrator.

During my final week of Fall quarter at school, I became obsessed with the show Misfits. That obsession carried on through the winter break and I started drawing one of my favorite characters, Simon. Sadly I lost interest in the piece after an hour...

These are from my Preproduction/Production Team classes. There was a cave scene that was cut out from the final story, so hooray for unused stuff!

The girl is still being used, just not the costume. I based her outfit off of Sean Connery's character in Indiana Jones and Jane's dad from Tarzan. Yup, nothing says "cute little girl clothes" like old man wardrobe!

OH NO! BATS!

Look, more purple!

Oh no! It's a vampire hime gyaru! I bet she keeps bats in her giant hair.

Done in Illustrator when I was bored. I finished it in about 3 hours.

I don't know what to title this...

...but here you go! I used a picture of my cousin Anna in her Halloween costume this years as reference. Overall I'm pretty happy with it and it made me not hate gradients anymore. So that's a plus. It took maybe 10 hours, give or take? Actually I don't know. 10 just sounded like a good reasonable number. Perhaps I should pay more attention to that.

Little Accident

I don't know how it happened. I opened up Illustrator this afternoon with the intention of working on a final, but somehow my warm ups turned into Miss Argentina from Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. I used screen shots from the movie and fan costumes as reference.

So. Many. Dots.

Oh looky, looky! It's another Digital Illustration assignment. This time we had to create an animal illustration. I was originally going to do a jelly fish, then I switched to a giraffe until finally I went with my usual pomeranain. For the style I went for a stippled effect instead of just drawing out vector shapes. The process was pretty much copying and pasting over and over, arranging and then changing colors. I don't think I'd ever do this again for fun, but I do like the way it turned out.

Pombats!

For my Digital Illustration midterm we had to create a set of 26 dingbats. Naturally I did Pomeranians (after a class vote...). As I got closer to the final few, I found it difficult to pick out which ones to do. I had way more ideas for more, but whatever. Maybe I'll make some for funsies.

Two of the Poms in there are updated versions of older ones I made last year. Oh how my poms have changed~

Yeeeaaah!

A pretty quick drawing I just did for my friend Mallory. I'm the whale and she's the Mallory. Together we go on adventures. She says funny one-liners and I eat pirates.
