This is Our Final Story, Daniel...

My third and final cover (for a while anyway) for the The Devil's Carnival. I learned that drawing Mighty Mike Murga is kind of fun and that the Ticket Keeper is the fine, thin line between Benjamin Franklin and Sexy Squidward.

I was going to wait till Tuesday to post this, but it turns out I won't be able to. Also no gif for this post because I'm dumb and forgot to save the version with basic coloring. Oh well.

Let me tell you a tale of a love that had failed...

I made another cover for The Devil's Carnival, this time featuring Tamara. I had an easier time this time than with the one for Merrywood. With this cover I had a clear idea of what I wanted it to look like and exactly which scene to use.

This morning I was really excited to see my art featured on the official Devil's Carnival Facebook page. Yaaaaaaaaaay /Kermit.

Old Town

Sorry I didn't update yesterday. I wasn't really home that much and I was without drawing materials, or so I thought. It wasn't until I went out to Old Town today for lunch that I realized I could draw using my 3DS. It took me a while to get the hang of it and I think you can tell just from looking at my drawings in order.

This is the first one I did. It's the view from our table at the restaurant. I worked on it between courses and didn't get to finish because we left.

After lunch we went to go listen to some mariachis. They looked like pirates and one of them had an electric violin. There was a pole in my way so I couldn't draw them. I drew a giant vase they had on the stage instead.

When I got bored with the vase I drew my mom. She says I made her look young. I think she liked the drawing. I tried to work on it some more on the way home but I ended up getting motion sickness.

Happy Friday the 13th!

Done in Illustrator in I don't know how many hours. I started it sometime on Tuesday night and worked on it off and on yesterday. Hopefully everyone has a better day than this gal.

Oh No You Didn't!

I was watching Maury with my mom when this lovely lady in the audience caught my eye. I liked how her bangs took up more than half her head and her Ronald McDonald color scheme.

A Penny For a Tale...

I made a fake comic cover for Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich's The Devil's Carnival. I think it'd work well as a comic, but I don't see myself attempting to make a fan version. A cover is just fine enough for me. I tried to make it look like it look like it was a real comic from that time period, complete with aging and mysterious stains.

Gotham Girls

Look at that statuesque Catwoman. Try to come up with another word to describe her, I dare you. I also noticed I colored Harley's hat wrong so I corrected that. Oop at me.

Puddin'

On today's menu is a Harley Quinn. Yay! I had a lot of fun drawing with friends today. It was something I needed.

Big City Travel Poster

It's not quite midnight yet so I guess that means I've made 2 posts in one day. What is this madness?!

Anyway, I was inspired by the old Disneyland attraction posters for the Monorail and People Mover. It's really obvious so I don't know why I'm bothering even mentioning it. Big City is one of the towns in Pomland and home to Pom Choco, the greatest Pomeranian inventor and scientist to ever live. His interests include straws. Lots of straws.

She's My Spooky Girl

I remember being really proud of the above image when I made it way back in 2010. It was when I was really getting a hang of Illustrator and still transitioning from traditional artist to digital. It was something I created somewhat quickly, but still managed to make cute.

Fast forward to 2013 and I've revisited the same Hime Gyaru vampire. She has hands now instead of nubs. Isn't that great? She can now open things by herself. Her hair also isn't a blob with random highlights thrown in.

She's even got a gal pal. I think I like her more, to be honest. I think she was a college co-ed in the 60s who died from choking on marshmallows. She looks the type.

Of course they weren't always undead. Here are some recolored and somewhat modified human versions. I don't know if it's because we're getting closer to Halloween or it's the influence of listening to The Ghastly Ones a lot more lately (which again, might be because of the approaching Halloween season), but I'm really enjoying drawing stuff like this right now. I don't think I'll be coming up with a whole line of cutesy girls for every kind of monster or supernatural entity, since that's a little bit too Monster High for me, but I will probably make one more to round out the group.

I'm Back!

It's been over two years since my last post. In that time I worked my first industry job, got my own apartment and learned that I kind of suck at building shelves. I just thought I'd whip something up to commemorate me coming back. I'll try to update regularly, depending if my internet sucks less than my shelves.
